Feed your Soul ♥

I am probably one of the last few people that take out books from the library. Lol. I can easily buy the books - but first off there is NO room on my bookshelf ; I currently have books stacked on my desk && on top of my TV too ; yes its that much. Lol. So its more eco friendly to get it from the library & bring it right back for others to read. The library also is one of my peace of mind places; makes me feel at ease. Im not sure if it also has to do with the fact that it brings a lot of childhood memories. But yeah ; I got this book last week & finished it like in two days. I am a big fan of Maya Angelou's poetry. If you know anything about me ; you know I have been writing since the age of like 9. Its my way of expressing my emotions & feelings. She has a couple which I want to share with you all ; because if I was able to relate to them ; its possible many others out there can too ! ♥ There are SO many more I LOVE but just way too many to type out here ; maybe another day - another post !

They Went Home -->

They went home and told their wives;
that never once in all of their lives,
they known a girl like me,
but ....they went home.

They Said my house was licking clean;
no word I spoke was ever mean
I had an air of mystery,
But...they went home.

My praises were on all mens lips,
they liked my smile; my wit; my hips,
they would spend one night; two; or three.
But....

Poor Girl -->

Youve got another love
and I know it
Someone who adores you
just like me
Hanging on your words
like they were gold
thinking that she understand your soul
poor girl
just like me.

Your breaking another heart
and I know it
And there is nothing I can do
If I try to tell her
what I know
She'll misunderstand
and make me go
Poor girl
just like me.

Your going to leave her too
and I know it
She'll never know what made you go
She'll cry and wonder
what went wrong
then she'll begin
to sing this song
Poor girl
Just like me.

& Lastly : Phenomenal Woman -->

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
